SAN FRANCISCO, CA – 29 June 2010 – At its recently held World Conference in Toronto, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) announced its new board of officers for the 2010–2011 international executive board and the IABC Research Foundation. Shelley Bird, ABC*, D.Comm**, was named the chair of the executive board and Marilyn Keyes was named the chair of the Foundation for 2010–2011.
The International Executive Board
The international executive board is the governing body of IABC, and develops the strategic plan and direction for the association under the guidance of bylaws approved by the IABC membership. The board supervises, controls and directs the affairs of the association; actively pursues IABC’s mission; determines its policy within the limits of the law, bylaws and articles of incorporation; upholds the IABC Code of Ethics; and supervises the disbursement of funds.
The 2010–2011 IABC International Executive Board is:

• Directors: Barbara Fagan-Smith, Erika Ruiz Ramos, Jeff Bishop, Jeffrey Ory, ABC, APR***, Kerby Meyers, Kristen Sukalac, Marilyn Keyes, Michelle Bernhart, Paulo Soares, ABC, and Peter Penny.
Bird brings over 20 years of international experience in communications, marketing and strategy to her role as executive vice president of public affairs at Cardinal Health. Prior to joining Cardinal Health, Shelley was chief communications officer at NCR Corporation based in the U.S. and vice president of marketing communications and public relations for Philips Consumer Communications based in the U.S. and France.
The IABC Research Foundation
The Foundation serves as the research and development arm of IABC. Established in 1982, the Foundation funds and publishes research to advance the profession and demonstrate the value of communication in organizational effectiveness. The Foundation translates communication theory into practice, providing real-world knowledge and applications for communication professionals.
The 2010–2011 IABC Research Foundation board includes:

Keyes is a marketing and communication consultant with more than 35 years of experience, and has served as principal of her own marketing consulting firm, vice president of marketing at several high-tech firms, and director of research and strategy at JDG Communications, a Virginia-based marketing firm. Her work at JDG earned the company awards and recognition from the Washington, D.C. chapters of IABC, PRSA and the American Marketing Association. She has led marketing and communication projects at for-profit, government and nonprofit organizations.
