SAN FRANCISCO, CA – 10 June 2009 – Mark Schumann, ABC*, assumed the role of the 2009–2010 chair of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) at the association’s World Conference in San Francisco, 7-10 June 2009.
As chair of the association, Schumann will be the chief elected IABC board member, presiding at board meetings, establishing committees, judging teams and representing IABC at meetings of other organizations and at public events all over the world.
Since joining his first IABC chapter in 1978, Schumann has actively served the association in different roles including chapter and district officer, member of the international executive board, trustee of the Research Foundation, contributor to IABC publications and frequent speaker at IABC conferences.
“We have the potential in the next decade to change how our world connects, how our profession enables people to be heard, and how our association empowers our members to create global conversations,” Schumann said in his opening remarks at the conference. “And we can make this happen if we have 20/20 vision of where we want our profession to be in the year 2020 and where we want to be as professionals. We must be the visionaries for our profession. We must, as an association, bring 20/20 vision to what our profession and our professionals must be in the year 2020. And that’s what IABC will focus on this year.”
Schumann is a senior consultant and principal for Towers Perrin based in Stamford, Connecticut.
