SAN FRANCISCO, CA – 9 February 2009 – The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) announced the winners of the 2009 Chapter Management Awards at the recently held Leadership Institute in Orlando, Florida. IABC/Newfoundland and Labrador won the award for the International Chapter of the Year, and was also named the Small Chapter of the Year for the third year in a row. The award for the Mid-Size Chapter of the Year was presented to IABC/San Diego while IABC/Toronto won the Large Chapter of the Year award.

IABC’s chapter management awards recognize the leadership abilities, management skills, creativity and teamwork of outstanding volunteer chapter leaders worldwide. Awards are presented in three divisions - small, mid-size and large chapters. Within those divisions are eight categories: branding, membership marketing, professional development, financial management, leadership development, communication, community involvement and student involvement.

“IABC’s role in supporting its members and providing resources to help them navigate the current economic environment, is more important than ever before. It is thanks to the dedication, commitment and creativity of our volunteer leaders that IABC can stay strong and serve our member needs,” said IABC President Julie Freeman, ABC*, APR**. “The Chapter Management Awards highlight excellence in chapter management and leadership and can be applied as best practices across the IABC chapter network.
